Dieffenbachia has come a ways since its origin. The plant was initially a stalk having a tuft of foliage on top. Modern hybrids like D. Camilla, also called cane that is dumb, are plants having a stem covered with leaves that are big variegated. This beautiful plant is effective with most decors and lasts with good care.
Place cane where it is going to receive filtered or average light. One way to supply the perfect amount of light would be to place the plant near a sunny window in a situation where it is never really reached by the sun’s rays. Turn the pot often so the plant gets light from many angles. If new development is lop-sided, you arenât turning the pot frequently enough.
Keep room temperatures between 80 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Donât neglect your plant should you change your thermostat when you go on on holiday.
Fertilize dumb cane every two months using a house-plant fertilizer created for foliage crops in spring and summer. In winter and fall, decrease into a feeding routine that is monthly. In the event the leaf edges curl and turn brown, reduce the fertilizer and flush the soil with water to rinse fertilizer salts from the soil.
Water the plant frequently enough to keep the soil moist but never wet or soggy. Keep the saucer beneath the plant empty so the roots donât sit-in water. Leaves that are droopy show the plant needs suggestions and water show that you’re waiting too long between waterings. Dumb cane doesnât need high-humidity, but will gain from occasional misting.
Repot the plant every year in spring, or more frequently if it becomes root-bound.
